Being a back bencher all through my life was both joy and comfort to me.It was a blessing to me than a curse. I always considered back bench as a respectable position, for, it helped me being my own. I had a special right as a back bencher to skip things that were un inspiring. or ignore the topics that were boring. I always made my self free from the whims of my teachers as a kid and was engaged in finishing some other assignments silently. I was intelligent and creative and used to come well prepared for the day's topic and was able to field the questions posed at the end of the lecture. All i had to do was to request for repeat of the question asked when i was lost in some fancy world. . I always had a plus point during the time of supervision from HM or higher officials . How? The first volley of questions were posed and faced by the front liners and by the time my turn came i was always ready to answer.

Like any other back bencher, i was also jovial, unimposing, selfless and out going and not a typical book ...or padaku.. From my experience ,I think back benchers are the essence and the spirit of hilarious side of the class and their absence makes the class dull ...... like a dish with out salt and spice.

As a back bencher i had comics, Secret Sevens, Works of Nancy Drew, Hardy boys and was generous in sharing them with all my friends too. But, i had a special right to place them in my text book and read it in the class posing like a serious student looking into the textbook.

But as the the saying goes the life was not bed of roses for me, a regular back bencher though i was very cautious. I got caught once in my English class and had to write " I'll not read comics and story books in the class" 100 times and the issue was promptly taken to the notice of my dad who was a teacher in the same school i studied.

Now, after all these days , when i look back , i have a treasure of memories that last life time as a back bencher during my school and college days which many of my friends who sat in the front could never dream of.Blogger Buzz: Blogger integrates with Amazon Associates
